Sluice Gate Valve
Common problems and solutions for gates
1. Water leakage
Poor sealing: Check whether the water stop belt and water stop rubber are aged or damaged, and replace or adjust the sealing device in time.
Gate slot deformation: If the gate slot structure is deformed and causes water leakage, it is necessary to repair the gate slot track or adjust the clearance between the gate and the gate slot.
Corrosion perforation: Severely corroded gates need to be mechanically derusted and then welded with steel plates, and painted with anti-rust paint and anti-corrosion coating.
2. Corrosion and rust
Surface anti-corrosion treatment: Sandblast the gate surface for rust removal during the dry season every year, and apply epoxy resin or anti-rust paint.
Anti-biological attachment: Regularly clean the aquatic organisms and sediment on the gate surface to reduce the attachment of corrosive media.
Material upgrade: Severely corroded areas can be replaced with stainless steel or composite gates.

3. Jamming and difficulty in opening and closing
Insufficient lubrication: Regularly add lubricating oil (such as butter) to rotating parts such as walking wheels and slide rails to reduce friction resistance.
Foreign object blocking: clean the mud, sand, stones and other debris in the gate slot to ensure that the movement path of the gate leaf is unobstructed.
Part wear: check the transmission parts such as bearings and gears, and replace the parts that are deformed or worn seriously.
4. Vibration and cavitation
Water seal adjustment: optimize the installation position of the water stop to reduce the impact of high-speed water flow on the gate.
Structural reinforcement: add support ribs or change the layout of the gate leaf beam in the area with frequent vibration.
Gate slot optimization: adopt a streamlined gate slot design to avoid vortexes caused by water flow and cavitation.
5. Electrical and control failure
Power supply check: check the motor power connection and voltage stability to ensure normal power supply.
Sensor maintenance: clean the limit switch and travel sensor to prevent mud and sand from interfering with the signal.
Hydraulic system repair: replace the leaking hydraulic oil pipe or seal to keep the pressure of the hydraulic hoist stable.
6. Structural deformation and damage
Repair by welding: The local deformed area is reinforced with welded steel plates to restore the structural strength.
Overall replacement: Severely deformed old gates need to be replaced as a whole, and lightweight high-strength steel materials are preferred.
Regular monitoring: Monitor the deformation trend of the gate through stress sensors and formulate maintenance plans in advance.
7. Maintenance recommendations
Periodic inspection: Check the appearance and sealing every day, test the opening and closing functions every month, and perform comprehensive anti-corrosion treatment every year.
Record analysis: Establish maintenance files, track failure frequency and component life, and optimize maintenance strategies.
